In B.E.2506, a batch of round shaped medals were created for Luang Phor Ngern. There are basically 3 sizes created, namely Phim Yai (large size), Phim Klang (medium size) and Phim Lek (small size). The large size piece is very commonly referred to as Rian “Jikko” Yai (gangster) due to its large size, which is a stereotype of gangsters who wear big amulets on their necks. The medium size piece is referred to as Rian “Jikko” Lek as it is similar in appearance to the large size pieces, only different in size. The small size piece is referred to simply as Rian Klom Lek (small round style) and is different in design and hence named differently.

Rian Jikko Yai was created first in B.E.2506 and then several times over the years. This batch of Rian Jikko Yai is differentiated in 5 blocks:

  1. Block Tem (complete mould) or Block Raek (1st mould), which was the 1st mould created and consecrated in B.E.2506.
  2. Block “Wor” Kad “Nor” Kad, where the consonant “Wor” of “Wat Donyaihom” and “Nor” of “Phra Raj Thammaphon” at the back is broken.
  3. Block “Nor” Taek, where the consonant “Nor” of “Nakhon Pathom” in front has a protruding mould line cutting across the consonant due to mould damage.
  4. Block Munithee (Luang Phor Ngern Foundation mould) or Block Soon Ree (oval “0”) where the back has no damage but the ‘0″ of “2506” is oval like the rest of the first 3 moulds.
  5. Block Soon Klom (round “0” mould) where the number “0” of “2506” at the back is round. It is also known as Block Luang Phor Chaem because it was initiated by Luang Phor Chaem to recreate the medals to be given to Luang Phor Ngern for consecration.

Although it is differentiated as 5 moulds, there was actually only 2 front moulds and 3 back moulds being used to create these medals. Block 1 is a mould by itself whereas Block 2 to 5 share the same front mould. Block 1 to 3 share the same back mould but has slightly different features due to damage. Block 4 and 5 are different moulds for the back. It can be quite complicated for the novice collector due to the differentiation in the moulds as there is a substantial difference in price. The most popular mould is Block 3 or Block “Nor” Taek but Block 1 or Block Tem is still the most collectible as it is the original block created and consecrated in the year B.E.2506. All the 5 moulds although were created in different periods, they are all classified as B.E.2506 regardless.

This batch of Rian Jikko medals has been very popular even from the time they were distributed as there were many positive experiences and miracles recounted by devotees. Due to its popularity of this batch of Rian Jikko, there have been many imitations, whether low quality or high quality, over the years. Some pieces even have different features which can be differentiated outright.

This piece shown is Rian Jikko Yai, Block Soon Klom (round “0” mould) in its original and unworn condition.
