In the year B.E.2516, several batches of medals were created for Luang Phor Chaem due to his monkhood title promotion and also because of many special events in the year. Even though Luang Phor Chaem had many devotees who had strong faith in him from all over the country, every time a batch of medals was created for him, they would be completely snapped up by all his devotees. One of this batch of medals was created for his consecration on Saoha Day (Saturday, 5th Day of the 5th month).
When the medals were created and a sample shown to Luang Phor Chaem, he exclaimed that the image did not resemble him at all and looked more like a Chinese steam bun (salapao). Due to this incident, the name stuck and this batch of medals were named Rian Salapao henceforth.
It was recorded that a total of 10,000 pieces were created but only specified 2 types of materials. However, it is known among the collectors and professionals that the materials that were created includes:
- Nur Thong Daeng Rom Dum (fumigated copper)
- Nur Thong Daeng Pew Fai (copper with sparkling surface)
- Nur Thong Daeng Kalai Thong (gold-plating on copper)
- Nur Nawak (9-metal alloy)
- Nur Ngern Pasom (mixed silver alloy)
This batch of medals is very popular and highly sought after due to many business owners giving very positive feedback since the release of this batch of medals in the year B.E.2516. The most recent event a few years ago was related by an electrical appliances shop owner who used to regularly make a turnover of 150,000 to 160,000 baht every weekend for many years. One day, he decided to conduct an experiment and made a wish to Luang Phor Chaem while holding the medal, saying that he only wished to make a turnover of 200,000 baht just on that day itself. True enough and to his surprise, his wish was fulfilled and he went around sharing his experience with many devotees of Wat Donyaihom. Due to this incident, there was a surge in the demand for this batch of medals causing the price to increase many folds just these past few years.
