In the year B.E.2531, Wat Chansen planned to build a Mondop, a shrine to house relics or sacred texts. In order to raise funds for the project, a batch of amulets was created for donors who came and made donations for this important and sacred event.

There were 3 types of amulets made:

Roop Meuan Pump Roon Sang Mondop (12th batch statuette)

  • Nur Ngern (silver) 500 pieces
  • Nur Thong Leuang (brass) 10,000 pieces
  • Nur Thong Daeng (copper) 7,000 pieces
  • Nur Takua (lead) 3,000 pieces

Rian Roon Sang Mondop Phrathat (15th batch medal)

  • Rian Roop Khai Nur Ngern (silver) 500 pieces
  • Rian Roop Khai Nur Thong Leuang (brass) 3,000 pieces
  • Rian Roop Khai Nur Thong Daeng (copper) 25,000 pieces
  • Rian Sema Nur Ngern (silver) 500 pieces
  • Rian Sema Nur Thong Daeng (copper) 25,000 pieces

Phra Kring Roon Sang Mondop (1st batch Medicine Buddha statuette)

  • Nur Ngern (silver) 103 pieces
  • Nur Nawak (mixed alloy) 1,000 pieces

The moulds for this batch of amulets were commissioned by the committee members of Wat Chansen and were kept in the temple after the production was completed. All amulets from this batch were stamped with the code of a Chedi (stupa), i.e. on the Sangkati (cloth covering the robes), at the back of the medal, etc.

Luang Phor Od was a nephew of Luang Phor Doem, Wat Nong Pho, Nakhon Sawan province and was also a junior fellow disciple of Luang Phor Phrom, Wat Chong Kae, Nakhon Sawan province. Luang Phor Od inherited Luang Phor Doem’s formula of consecrating efficacious Roop Meuan amulets. Before Luang Phor Doem passed away, he instructed Luang Phor Od to further his knowledge with Luang Phor Phrom as Luang Phor Phrom was one of his top disciples. Luang Phor Od’s amulets were equally famous for Kong Kraphan Chatri (invulnerability to weapons) and Keaw Klaad (escape from danger).

The statuette style of this batch of amulets is one of the most popular batch of Luang Phor Od’s amulets, mainly due to the fact that the Roop Meuan was created in the style of both Luang Phor Doem and Luang Phor Phrom Roop Meaun Pump. It is also because of the noble intention behind making this batch of amulets, for the building of a Mondop which is considered a holy event to make merits.

This piece shown is a major competition 2nd placing winner on 27th of January B.E.2551 (2008 C.E.) in Pantip Plaza, Ngam Wong Wan, Nonthaburi province organised by the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy. It is kept in its mint and unworn condition.
