Luang Pu Kham was born on a Thursday in the 10th Month of the Year of the Ox, B.E.2432. When he reached the age of ordination, he was ordained in Wat Pho by Phra Yantrailoke Arj of Wat Salapun, Phrakru Winayanuyok of Wat Kasattrathiraj and Phra Upatcha Jan of Wat Tham Nop. Luang Pu Kham was given a handwritten manual containing Wiccha incantations as well as formulas for various types of subjects and he studied them until he was proficient in all the types of Wiccha which were recorded in the manual. However, Luang Pu Kham was extremely interested in the topic and was unsatisfied with what he had learnt and hence set forth to learn more knowledge from various guru monks of the period such as Luang Phor Prink of Wat Bangpakok, Luang Phor Jong of Wat Natangnok, Luang Phor Phak of Wat Bosth as well as Than Chao Khun Suthamthirakhun of Wat Saket. Luang Pu Kham received the title “Phrakru Withan Somnakit” officially conferred by King Rama VI for his endless duty of helping the people wherever needed.

Luang Pu Kham was one of the top guru monks in Angthong province and he had created several types of amulets such as Phra Somdej, Rian, Phra Nur Wahn Pasom Wahn Ya, Phayant, Thakrud, Roop Thai. However the most famous amulet he had created with countless of miraculous experiences were his Bia Gae (Cowrie). Luang Pu Kham is considered as one of the top guru monks to produce Bia Gae amulets along with Luang Pu Boon, Wat Klang Bang Keaw, Nakhon Pathom province, Luang Phor Phak, Wat Bosth, Angthong province and Luang Pu Rod, Wat Nai Rong, Bangkok Noi province. Luang Pu Kham passed away on the 25th of June, B.E.2503 at the age of 72 years old, spending 52 rainy seasons in monkhood.

Luang Pu Kham was close to Luang Phor Phak, Wat Bosth and they would visit each other very often. This can be seen from the style of the Bia Gae created by these 2 masters which are very much similar in characteristics. Luang Pu Kham had started creating Bia Gae amulets before B.E.2493 and usually the cowrie shell used was not tied with strings or had any additional decorations. The cowrie shell will be emptied and mercury would be filled inside before placing a metal foil or a thakrud, usually copper, on the opening and then sealing it with a special natural wax known as Chanarong. Later created Bia Gae of Luang Pu Kham used less of Chanarong as it was a rare natural wax and had to be mixed with special Wahn Ya and Phong Ittije.

Bia Gae of Luang Pu Kham was known to protect the wearer and counteract all types of black magic, help the wearer escape from bad or dangerous situation, improve the career of the wearer and also protect the wearer from all forms of physical harm. His Bia Gae is classified in the category of Benjaphakee (top 5) Bia Gae of Thailand.

This piece shown is in its champion and unworn condition and was a 4th placing winner in a major competition held on 27th September B.E.2552 jointly organised by Sammakhom and other amulets associations in Pantip Plaza Ngam Wong Wan.
