Phra Pidta Mee Lap was the 1st batch of Phra Pidta amulets ever created by Luang Phor Chaem, Wat Donyaihom, Nakhon Pathom in B.E.2514. The term “Mee Lap” means “to have fortune” in Thai and the name is imprinted just below the lotus base. A total of 10,000 pieces were created in various colours such as black, white, yellow, red and pink. The earliest pieces being created was using a mixture of Nur Phong and Nur Wahn, which resulted in a very dark brown colour with a different texture and is very rare.
Even though this was the 1st time that Luang Phor Chaem created Phra Pidta amulets, with an auspicious name and that the features of this Phra Pidta are very beautiful and attractive, it is however not as popular as it should have been. The reason is because the material of these Phra Pidta amulets were not strong and tend to break or disintegrate easily, resulting in difficulty to keep in pristine condition due to the inherent weakness in the material. An additional problem is that majority of the pieces were being pumped out of shape due to manual handling, which led to only a small amount being beautiful and complete in appearance and even then, many pieces did not have the words “Mee Lap” clearly imprinted below the lotus base.
Nevertheless, a keen collector will quickly snap up a piece whenever available if the pieces come across are in good condition due to it being the 1st batch Phra Pidta amulets consecrated by Luang Phor Chaem.
